Dwarkadas Group. is an export & import company belonging to the Dwarkadas Group of Companies. The Dwarkadas Group has been in the cotton trade for more than 50 years and was founded by late Mr. Dwarkadas Sekhsaria. Since then the Group has been expanding at present is being managed by :
Mr. Aditya J. Sekhsaria : 48 years, Proprietor with an experience of more than 30 years in the field. He has been successful in giving impetus to the Group's thrust in local and global markets.



History

Dwarkadas Group. was set up in 1948 and is one of the leading and oldest commodity companies in India. Over the years it has developed competence in trading of various agricultural commodities and allied products. From a small scale trading firm the group has grown into a large trading house with an annual turnover of Rs. 200 crores (approximately $50 million US ). The group's core strength lies in its dedicated and experienced staff of 100 people functioning through a well established network of branches in all major commodity growing states with the corporate office in Bombay. The working is professional with a high degree of autonomy at the branch levels. It has been dealing in raw cotton for the last 50 years. In 1998 the company celebrated its Golden Jubilee. Since 1948 it is dealing in ginning, importing, exporting and local trading of various commodities, like raw cotton, oil seeds, cotton waste, fiber, yarn, cotton linters etc. It has its own ginning factory and oil plant doing ginning and pressing of cotton and crushing various types of seeds to extract oil. It supplies all types of cotton from all over the world to leading textile mills all over the world. We give below a brief profile of the group's existing and proposed activities.



Products

Cotton : Raw cotton has been the backbone of the group's trading activity since the very inception and it continues to be the main trading activity. India is the third largest producer in the world and perhaps the only country which produces cotton ranging from short staple to extra long staple. 90-95% of India's cotton production is consumed within India. The domestic cotton market value in 1995 - 96 is estimated to be over 2.7 billion US $. The group companies are engaged in cotton merchandising to the leading spinning mills in India. Traditionally, the activity included purchasing full pressed bales of cotton for supply to textile mills in India. In recent years, apart from a quantum leap in spinning technology, spinning and weaving activity is being shifted to countries like India with raw material and cheap labour availability, which has resulted in spinners placing more emphasis on the raw material and requiring even tighter specifications. This emphasis on quality, combined with the group's philosophy to ensure the highest standards of quality control commensurate with the parameters of the market, has been the prime motivator in the company's move into establishing its own offices in the cotton producing states and further expand its activities in the domestic market as under :-

Domestic :- The Group is actively involved in trading and ginning of cotton in the domestic markets supplying raw cotton of different growths / varieties to the domestic spinning mills. The annual turnover is about 2,00,000 bales dealt with clients as follows :
